thanks living :: The Joy Challenge

It’s November – the month of Thanksgiving – so I’ve been thinking about how I should probably be more thankful. Frankly, I know I need to be more grateful and appreciative because sometimes my attitude stinks. I tend to forget that my life is full of many blessings … like my husband, my kids, and my house. These are all things that fill me with joy every day. And yet, I fail to appreciate them. I take them all for granted.

So I’ve issued myself a challenge. I call it The Joy Challenge and it goes something like this:

Every day – give thanks.

And in every thing – give thanks.

I know. That’s not always easy. There are days it’s really hard to be grateful – to feel appreciative. So for the next 30 days I’m going to encourage you with thoughts and pictures that make gratitude a reality. For the next 30 days, I’m praying ‘The Joy Challenge’ will inspire you to give thanks every day. And in every thing.

And at the end of November, I just know you’ll feel the contagious spirit of THANKS LIVING!

I’m grateful that God has chosen not to remove/heal my “limp”. I have prayed prayer upon prayer for healing, but God has told me no. He has been healing my heart instead. He is teaching me that my spiritual condition is more important than physical healing on this earth.

Right now my body is tired and sore – my feet hurt, my back aches, my legs feel like rubber. Lots of rehearsal time this week. For this, I am thankful. I praise God for allowing me to dance for Him. He has taken this older body of mine and given me a heart and passion to glorify His name through movement. Precious Father, thank you for this gift and teaching me how to use it.

I’m thankful for our health and appreciate that we only have a minor cold to deal with; I’m thankful for my home and even though it may not have everything I want, it has everything we need; I’m thankful for having a spouse. Without him, I know my life would be a lot more hectic than what it already is. I’m thankful for having a job with a wonderful boss; I’m thankful for the area that I live in and know that my children are getting a good education; I’m thankful for my their teachers and how they’re always on top of things and let me know how they’re doing in school. I’m thankful for having family close by and know that in the time of need, they are here immediately. I’m thankful for having great neighbors and know that my house is taken care of when we are out of town. Most importantly, I’m thankful for having God in my life; without him I would be lost!

My son and I just Got back from India, and your message is right on time about being Thankful.
We both realize how thankful we are for all that we have and take for granted. Hot water, flushable toilets and clean streets and fresh air. For a loving God that took care of us when we were in a 3rd world country. We truly are thankful for our homes families and a God who loves us. Giving thanks everyday !!!!! to the one who gives us life and life more abundant.

    blessings,
