I have so much to be thankful for … I bet you do too. But sometimes it’s easy to forget to appreciate the very things that make life meaningful. I wrote about my forgetfulness in this article in Austin Woman Magazine. You might want to take a peek. I think it will make you want to give your life a big old hug.
To fight the infectious forgetfulness and the attitude of ingratitude I often get, I decided to issue myself a challenge. Every day in the month of November, I am giving thanks for the things I often take for granted. I call it The Joy Challenge. Basically, it goes like this:
Every day – give thanks. And in everything – give thanks.
Thanks for the big stuff.

And thanks for the little stuff.
But mostly thanks to the One that’s giving and giving all the time.
So what’s that got to do with the giveaway?!
Well, I’d like to put a smile on your face & some hope in your heart. And I figure that might just happen if you win the big giveaway. But I know it will happen if you start saying thanks.
So here’s how this gratitude giveaway works. I’m going to start off and tell you some things I’m grateful for accompanied by a fabulous prize. Then all you need to do is jump in when I’m done and tell me what you’re grateful for …
So here’s what you get if you win (and you get all of it – a $275 value!!!) …
I’m grateful for home …
I love my cozy, older home. And I love feathering my nest. Especially with goodies from Pottery Barn. So giveaway gift #1 is …
- $50 Gift Card to Pottery Barn
I’m grateful for family …
I love my family and I’m grateful to God for them. I realize that it’s my job to make sure the relationships stay tight and strong. With God and with the people in my life. As a matter of fact, that’s just the kind of stuff my husband and I write about. So giveaway gift #2 is …
- An ESV compact bible and 10 books authored by the Davises (pictured below)

I’m grateful for food …
I’m a comfort food foodie. I love good food. Matter of fact, the entire month of December I’m featuring ‘Family Favorite Recipes’ from some of my favorite families. Stop by and see what’s cooking. It’ll be delish! So giveaway gift #3 is …
- $50 Gift Card to Williams Sonoma
I’m grateful for fun …
We’re kind of a wacky, musical family. A lot of our fun starts and ends with music. So I figure you might like to have some crazy, musical fun with your family. So giveaway gift #4 is …
- $50 iTunes Gift Card
To enter the drawing to win ALL FOUR GIFT ITEMS (that’s a $275. value), simply tell me what you’re grateful for today. Yep. That’s it. And if you do, you’ll actually be joining The Joy Challenge which is going on the rest of this month.
And if you’d like to enter more than once, well sure! Fine! Works for me.

MOO Giveaway

I am thankful for God’s healing mercies and the prayers of sweet friends. I am thankful for the paint on the floor, the toys that I pick up , the stacks of books to put on the shelf, the piles of clothes to fold…the list could go on. It can be repetitive and lull me into a sort of blindness, but the truth is that I have two sweet little daughters that are healthy and full of joy. I love to hear their giggles and laughter. The request of just one more hug and one more kiss fills my heart to overflowing.
I’m grateful for the fact I’m getting ready to head back to my home state to visit family for Thanksgiving.
First off, I LOVE the Joy challenge and I always strive to look at the bright side and say thanks, but sometimes it just gets away from me and I’m so happy to do this again. I’m thankful for my amazing husband who works so hard to provide for our family, my sweet twin girls who made me a mom, and for all the small things GOD gives me every single day. I’m entering a couple times here and on facebook:) Thanks Susie:)
What a great idea! I’m thankful for my Saviour Jesus Christ & my family :)

Today, I am most grateful for the forgiveness of my loving Savior and the grace He has given me to make it through another day homeschooling my five sweet blessings and still being able to take joy in today!
I’m not sure I know where to start in offering thanks because I’m so amazingly blessed. I’m thankful beyond words for: 1) a wonderful husband who loves and cares deeply for me and my girls 2) 2 beautiful daughters who bring such joy and laughter to my life 3) a mom and dad who sowed the gift of Christ’s love into my brother’s and my life from the time we were toddlers 4) provision – not too little and not too much, but ALWAYS enough 5) friends who bring such interest and dimension to my life (not to mention the nagging truth no one else will tell!) 6) a community of fellow Christ followers who so faithfully do life with us 7) the sunrise which reminds me that with the dawn comes new mercies 8) the sunset that takes with it the hurts and disappointments of the day and bring the realization that tomorrow brings another chance to start fresh 9) books, creativity, movies, writing, and the joy of the unexpected treasure uncovered while digging in the bargain bin :) 10) and though some might think it strange, I’m thankful for the “gift” of a body beset by illness because in the midst of what at times feels like insurmountable challenge, I’ve been introduced to the true meaning of love, God’s immeasurable grace, and the joy that only comes from helping others with a heart that understands all too well the value of time shared, the longing of a loving touch or the realization that we each possess the finger prints of the same Master Potter who sees the beauty and purpose in us all.
Much love and many thanks ~

I could spend the rest of the day at my computer typing what I am thankful for. But, I will keep it short for everyone’s sake…:) Today, I am especially grateful for my two sweet little things that follow me around and call me momma. Some days I want to run and hide when I get home from work, but when I get a big slobbery kiss from a 2 year old boy and a super tight squeeze from a 5 year old boy, I realize just how lucky I am to have these two boys in my life to put everything in perspective for me! Then, I don’t want to run and hide because I know I am loved by them. I sure do love them and am ever so grateful for them!

Hi, and thanks so much for this opportunity to express joy and thanks. I am thankful for my Prince of Peace who is giving my husband and me all of the peace we need in a very difficult time. Our son has been in the hospital (behavioral and mental health) since August and I have been struggling with unanticipated empty nest syndrome. Knowing it will extend thru the holidays has been sort of depressing, but I know God is at work in our son’s life and I cannot think of anyone else I’d rather be in control of his situation. I know HE will be glorified by our son someday — and hopefully, by hubby and me as well, as we praise Him for his mercy and grace.

Thankful that He is Emmanuel – God with us.

I am thankful for my wonderful husband who does so much for me and loves me so incredibly much. I think it’s truly rare to find your soul mate this day in age, and I know I have mine. I’m thankful for the wonderful home we’ve made together, our lives we share, and our furry son. I’m thankful to be expanding on all of this greatness soon too!! So much to be thankful for!
Our home. We’ve been aching to return to our roots in a small town north of here, but lately, have had such peace and contentment with our family around the fireplace, the dinner table, tucked in our beds… I’m so thankful for our home.
This is an amazing opportunity- thank you so much!
Blessings,

I am thankful for unexpected blessings. Unexpected and maybe at the time *not convenient* …
After welcoming our third child and only daughter we felt for sure our lives and family were complete and perfect. When that daughter turned 2 months old, I found out- with a gaping mouth- that I was 4 weeks pregnant. The funny thing is that we had a difficult time concieving the three other children. So this was a shock in more than one way. My disbelief turned to excitement over the next few months, and as my belly grew larger, and that infant daughter grew too along with her two older brothers. And people’s stares lingered. And comments were made- some behind my back some very boldy to my face. And in all of this I remembered how SACRED life is. That I have had the honor of experiencing an everyday, ordinary MIRACLE four times. How very BLESSED that I can have children. That I can watch them EVERYDAY grow into these amazing people. I feel humbled by the gifts that they are. I am thankful for unknowingly having a gift bestowed upon me.

I am thankful for my most wonderful husband, my beautiful daughter and for everything that God has blessed us with. Every time I really look past all the little, insignificant dramas I realize how much he has given me and I could spend all of eternity thanking him just for these recent little moments of time! This does not even include the past and the future. I hope that I will always remember that, especially when things are hard.
I’m thankful for God’s whispers gently guiding us on the path less traveled and His patience as He molds us and shapes us for the works He has prepared in advance for us to do!
I’m grateful for my supportive husband and zany daughter. Both make me smile each day!

I’m grateful for my four beautiful, healthy children.
Hello there! What a fantastic opportunity for us all to share the abundant blessings in our life. I have one particular blessing that comes to mind immediately: Last week my family found out that my dear uncle had suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. We still don’t know the reasons surrounding his death, but I must admit that my family has been deeply shaken by the event. It’s hard to know why God took my uncle at such a time, especially since he is survived by only my 24-year old cousin and her 18-year old brother who must cope with his passing. God has been speaking to my family through this tragic event and He has given us comfort and joy that can only come from the hope of the resurrection. But I am most grateful and thankful for this one fact about our amazing God: He hates death just as much as we do. He didn’t intend for us to die, and that’s exactly why He sent His dear son to save us from sin and death. God cares deeply for his children and doesn’t want us to suffer from death. That’s a great comfort.
I am sorry for your loss. Prayers for comfort for your family!
I am thankful to the Lord for all His mercy and grace!
I am thankful for my ever growing family and so much more…
Today I am thankful for warm blankets and chocolate.

I’m grateful for my family. I grew up in loving Christian family who taught me about God and his love from a very young age. They raised me to love him and know him as my own. I am also thankful for finding a Godly, loving husband who loves our Lord as well. I am very blessed!
I am thankful for a forgiving God. I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for friendships, that I have a job and food to eat. I am thankful for a home.

I am grateful for the Lord’s perfect timing – even when it “appears” to not be perfect.
I am grateful for His faithfulness to his Word and promises. Jesus tells me that he is guiding and comforting me all day every day. Lately, I have been numb to His comforting words and touch. I desperately need to feel His presence, but I’m unable to get there right now. So, I am thankful that God does not waver in his faithfulness to his children. This is my hope and trust when I cannot see or feel my precious Jesus.
I’m thankful for a husband who agreed to us getting a new puppy even though he wasn’t thrilled with the idea of another dog. Thank you for the chance to win and for the inspiration.
I am grateful today because my hubby and son are healthy. Thanks for the chance.

I am grateful for family! God has blessed me with such an amazing husband and wonderful children. I am very blessed.
Geez, this time of year is the best! There are so many things on my list, but just a few…certainly the wonderful people in my life–my family and friends are at the top (and the tippy top would be my adorable twin boys and hubby). I am grateful for all of the various opportunities I’ve had. It seems like I’ve moved a bajillion times for my husband’s school/jobs and each of those places has brought wonderful friends and opportunities. And as a mom, I am grateful for quiet. Peace. Sleep. You know, those rare but wonderful moments to relax!

I am grateful for the woman who brought my family a meal two times in the last month, someone I’m just getting to know and the woman who brought me a tea bag at a football game. Big and small, but both meant a lot. I have been all-day-morning-sick and things at week 18 are seeming to look up a bit. Thank you to those women who followed a nudge they had, it so blessed me and I don’t want to forget.
Love that. Wanna be like them.

I am grateful for my husband and two children, for my parents and in-laws, my siblings, and everyone else. The Lord blessed me by giving me to parents who raised me in a Christ-centered home, and I pray I model those things in my own home, day in and day out for my two precious babes. I am also grateful for God’s continued provision in my life, even when I doubt him and stress. And the list could go on… :)

thank YOU for the prompt to think on thankfulness today.
Okay, well we have been in a VERY long season of transition. This year alone, we had our third baby boy – he is such a joy! Then a couple of months later we moved from NC to PA. But the house that we moved to was so bad that we couldn’t actually move into it. We ended up spending the entire summer living with my in laws, while we worked on the house 6 out of 7 days of the week. During that time, my husband was unemployed. We were broke, homeless, exhausted, and spiritually crushed (as we’ve been doing what we felt that God told us to do but have been struggling with the circumstances of it all).
The year is ending. And I am sitting in my livingroom, with my three boys around the house. They are healthy and happy, homeschooled and dearly loved. My husband is employed and we actually have health benefits for the the first time in 4 years. There is always food on our table, clothes on our backs, and strength to take on the challenges ahead of us.
What am I thankful for? My God – in whom I really trust. The One who gives me Hope, even when everything around me seems hopeless. The One who Comforts me, even when I throw a temper tantrum. The One who has given me the best gifts in the world, my husband and my children. I am blessed.. no matter what.

I’m thankful for my 2year old son. He has been extra trying lately and I’m struggling with staying calm and under control. But it took us 5 years, cancer, chemo, surgery to finally conceive on our own (with God’s help). I try very hard to not take his presence for granted because I remember how much I wanted him here. So even when he’s being a little toot, I am so very thankful for him, and my hubby who is still cancer free.

The thing I can’t shake today is the memory of walking, slowly, hand-in-hand up the stairs at bedtime with my almost-two year old son. Slow, plodding, one chubby foot at a time, wooden train car in the other hand.. And I was struck with the undeniability of the fact that one day I will remember walking those stairs, holding that hand, listening to those feet… and I will cry. My blessings are weighty. What joy!
I am thankful for a God who forgives, and family that puts up with me and my friends that go along on the journey with me.

I’m thankful for white chocolate and orange juice. Weird combo, but it’s just what I need to calm my nerves before a big exam :)
That’s not weird. Mine was coffee and biscuits. Whatever gets you thru …
I am so thankful for our family and our son Jack who’s 1 year old. We have always felt very blessed but, having Jack around doubles our joy!
Today I am grateful for white chocolate and orange juice. Weird combo, but they are just the things I need to calm my nerves before a big exam :)
I am so thankful for God who loves me, blesses me, watches over me, laughs with me, cries with me, forgives me, nourishes me and so so so much more.

Today was a MOPS Monday. I love my Mothers of Preschoolers group! Those ladies keep me sane!!!
Thanks for the chance to enter. :)
I love MOPS too. :)
I am so grateful for my husband. I recently went back to work while he is in school for his degree in eductaion. He is doing such a great job being Mr. Mom and he can cook! I am just in love with him and thank God for him daily.
I am thankful for medicine that works, daughters that are healing, gifted doctors and an awesome God that gives all these things. I am thankful for an amazing husband who continues to work hard to provide for our family and at the same time work hard to balance in time to spend together as a family. I am thankful for grace. I am thankful that the baby is beginning to sleep through the night!
I am thanking for the quiet of rest that has filled my home. My babies are asleep, my husband is snoring (I’m even thankful for that right now!) and I get a moment for myself. My thankfulness, my happiness is knowing that I now have my time to spend wisely- which is why I will now turn off my computer, and open The Word.
I am thankful for my husband’s willingness to watch the kids for the evening.
God led me to my dream job 5 months ago…I pinch myself every day!
I’m grateful for high speed internet ;)
I am so thankful for my little family (amazing husband and 2 sweet boys). We live far away from home (in East Asia) and often miss friends and family back in Texas, but we know we’re blessed to have each other. I’m also thankful for the challenges that stretch me and make me rely more on the Lord. Studying one of the world’s most difficult languages, learning how to function in a different cultural setting, raising my American children in a very un-American setting, learning to cook new foods, making friends from different cultural contexts…all of these things force me to rely more on Him and less on myself, and I am thankful for that even in the midst of difficulties.
I have so much to be grateful for. As I tucked my boys in tonight, I told them how grateful I was that I get to be a stay at home mom and home-school my children and be with them all day. It is a blessing.
I’m grateful for healing and my Dad’s strength as he battles cancer!

I am grateful for the birthmothers of my children. These women are responsible for the chubby chaos I’m up to my neck in and I’m so grateful to have them to celebrate Pudge and Zippy’s accomplishments with.
I’m grateful for my wonderful family. Tonight we went to church to load up Operation Christmas Child boxes. It is the first night of collection week and we already have over 400 shoe boxes for children around the world! I can’t wait to see how many more come in each day! Tonight my husband, my 3 boys (ages 7, 4, and 3), and I worked together on this project and it was a real blessing! I’m so thankful!

My husband and I are thankful for our beautiful daughter, Emma Grace. We tried for 15 years and had decided it was not in God’s plan. We lost my father on Christmas Eve 2005 and found out we were expecting a child in February 2006. (We were 40…God does have a sense of humor.) She was born in November…..with my daddy’s bright blue eyes. (I’m also subscribing to your blog. Thanks for the work you do!)

I am grateful that today I was able to get out of bed and appreciate what I have. My father, who adopted me as a single parent, died in December 2009 leaving me at 23 responsible for moving out of the home we lived in, make funeral arrangements and find a new place for myself and my dog. Everyday since then it has been hard to find the strength to carry on, to remember that there is still a lot I want to do and one of those is make him proud. I am also grateful for my fiance, friends and family for being there for me and reminding me that while I sometimes feel alone, I am not alone. They give me the strength to wake up everyday and make each day count.
Praying for you Sonia. This December is bound to be a hard one. So glad you have friends there with you. You are right. You are not alone.
I am grateful for my family!

I am grateful for the LOVE of God and my family.
Today, at this very moment, I am so grateful for my mom. I’m a “grown-up,” married with my own little home to maintain, but I’ve let it go lately… Being too busy turned into a cold, turned into everything falling apart (or so it seems!). My mom came to my rescue today by cleaning my house, buying a few groceries, and doing my laundry… All while I was at work, without my knowing! Her love for me astounds me; I am so grateful for her and her example of love and grace in my life.
Today I am thankful (among innumerable other things!) for my two sweet and cuddly little boys. :) They’re not usually cuddly, so I feel extra special.
i’m thankful for two healthy kids and a wonderful hubby!

I am thankful for God’s love that overwhelms me daily!
Today, I’m thankful for motivation to take a little time to declutter and clean. I always feel more peaceful after doing it. It’s nice to see clear spaces!
today, i’m grateful that my husband is returning home from a week long hunting trip!!!
I am greatful for my washer and dryer. We have had the stomach flu and life would be a lot more difficult without those gems.
So Thankful for Family, Friends,my wonderful husband and most of for Jesus.
God has been good so good; I have been blessed (it’s a song). I have a wonderful husband who works hard everyday to provide for me and our 2 boys- 6months and 2 1/2years old. My life would be empty without them. I am also thankful for my parents, brothers, and sister. I’ll just stop there. My list is very long……………….

I am thankful for my faith and so thankful for my healthy beautiful family! This time of year would be nothing without either of these!
I am grateful for my family! I cherish them every day.
I am especially grateful for my dear husband of 51 years. I have some health problems and he is so kind and patient and gracious in helping me. He is a fine Christian man and deals with my problems as God would want him to. Such kindness is rare in this world.
I have far to many blessings to count! I’m thankful for my sweet boy and the joy that he has brought to our lives!
1. salvation through Jesus
2. 3-month-old son
3. husband who works to support us so i can stay home with aforementioned 3-month-old son
I am thankful for SO much, my life has turned out so much better than I ever could have hoped for. I’m thankful for my husband who supports me in everything I do and has absolute, 100% faith in me. He truly is the light of my life!
I am officially nine months pregnant today. My home is undergoing major renovations due to the discovery of wasps living in the wall of the nursery. After tearing down the drywall we realized there was a ton of rot in the walls. An inspector came to help us discover that each room was worse than the last. Currently my home is ripped to the studs on two sides of the house. My kitchen and bathroom are completely gutted and everything I own is being stored in my living room and a storage bin in our driveway. Due to the reno’s, my husband and I are living with his parents (and brother and two sisters plus our three dogs). With our brand new (and first!) baby coming, I’m just thankful I have a place filled with love to bring her home too. I’m longing to be in my own home but I’m thankful that I’m in the next best place that I can be. It’s wonderful to have great inlaws! I’m thankful for that!
I’m finally thankful for my house. After leaving the home of my dreams, built by just my husband and I, we sold our country love to prepare for the mission field of Israel. We moved to town where I lost tons of space and privacy to this 129 yr old house. I might as well have already left the U.S. I seemed so out of place here. After much time and countless tears I am beginning to feel thankful that it’s feeling more like home. Now, if I could just remember where the light switches were….lol
I’m grateful for so many things…mostly my family and my job.

New to your blog, but so glad I came by via The Nester! I’m grateful today (and every day) for my family. Most of all, my husband and son, but also my sister, my dad and step-mom, my cousins, my uncles and aunts…we’ve been through a rough year this year with my Mother’s illness and death, and each of my family members has blessed me beyond words. I have realized over the last month-and-a-half how much they mean to me.
Because He first loved me…

I’m thankful for my family! I love that this time of year reminds me to be thankful of all the little things that they bring: A hug from a teenage boy, a kiss from a tween, a love note from a young girl and laughter and giggles from a little boy. I am so grateful to share all the joys and sometimes struggles with a wonderful husband! Thanks!

Every day I am overwhelmed by God’s grace in my life and I am thankful for His mercies! I am blessed to be a stay at home mama who gets to enjoy my home and family and friends. I’m thankful for the freedoms we have in our country, especially to be able to worship God openly! I am blessed beyond measure!
Wow…where do I begin? First of all, I am thankful for a loving Creator who desires a relationship with me, even when I fail to yearn for Him in return. I am so incredibly thankful for a husband who shares that same sentiment. And I am super grateful for our precious adopted daughter who will be 8 months old this month. I could go on & on…my family, my church, my friends, my awesome part-time job…you get the picture! :)

An amazing godly husband who loves me more than anything, two healthy girls who learn a little more about God’s grace and love every day while they teach me more about God but I think the thing that I am most thankful for this (almost) time for thanksgiving…is the fact that on Thanksgiving Day, my family and I will leave to head to Ethiopia to pick up our long awaited baby boy. Who could have picked a better day to start that journey? Nobody folks, but my amazing God…

Whatever! I’m seriously just a little jolted to be writing about gratitude when also *hoping* to win more, more, more! Just yesterday our pastor taught us from 1 Timothy 6 – How godliness with contentment is great gain. And that wanting more and more is an appetite is never fully and finally satisfied. Thank you for the opportunity to stop and be thankful! Content! :)
I’m so thankful for my husband – he is my friend, he loves me so completely, he puts his whole heart into taking care of our family every single day. I’m sooo thankful to God for our two sweet kids, that I get to be their mom. Sam and Lucy are 2 and 4. I’m thankful that I’ve been home with them, in our nest, all the days of their lives. Every day! Even with all my whining it’s been a dream come true. I’m thankful for living on mission for Christ in a church of fellow believers who believe in really serving and loving people. I’m thankful for my small, beauiful home, my health (wow! I’m healthy!), my amazing family, even for how crazy they are, I love each of them so much. I’m thankful for the opportunity to jump up and down and praise God whenever I want to. I’m thankful that even when I fail miserably, my God loves me. He LOVES me! His love NEVER fails. He is forever and ever there for me – he’s overcome it all – I’m thankful that LOVE wins.

I am just thankful for being allowed to be me. I got to spend time with my whole family at some point throughout this weekend – my son {20 yrs.old } on Friday night and part of Saturday {he helped me flip mattresses}, my new {and first} granddaughter, who at 3 1/2 months has more smiles than tears; my lovely daughter and mother to this little precious, who counts on me to help her furnish her apartment nicely for her, hubby and baby, and listens to my advice now; and finally, I got to see my hubby of over 25 years, home from his retail job as he stresses over the upcoming holidays. I’m thankful for being allowed to be me, because they all wanted to see me! It makes me feel like a valuable individual to know that I mean something to these important people in my life. And before I forget, thank you for offering such a generous giveaway!
Annnd now following your facebook page!
I am thankful first for the love of God because without him I wouldn’t have my beautiful family who I cherish so much, the love of my husband, and wonderful friends ;)

Susie,
This is such a wonderful idea! My friends and I used to do “Gratitude Thursdays” where we would make sure to tell the people in our lives that we were thankful for them and what else we were thankful for! It always made a great start to the day :)
Anyway, the thing that I am most grateful for is just that Jesus offered me salvation. I continually look at the ways that I have fallen and that I let Him down, and yet He continues to allow me to be a part of His plan and His mission to reach the nations for His name. I am but a filthy sinner, but He offers GRACE?! How incredible is that!
I’m also so thankful that I have found a church body that is passionate for His name and His glory. I’m still in college, but I’ve grown so much in the past four years, it’s crazy to see where I started. I’m always blessed by my fellow students in the ministry and by the leadership- especially the women who are always there to mentor us.
I’m SO blessed, so encouraged, so thankful for my group of friends. We’ve fought for justice together with Invisible Children and Resolve Uganda, we’ve slept outside to get legislation passed, we’ve cried together, and loved on each other. This summer we lost a friend in the bombings in Kampala, as Nate went to go visit the country he had dedicated his life to. Then a week later- as our family of friends grew together in tragedy- my best friend was killed in a hiking accident. Once again, I was able to witness as my family of friends drew together for support and encouraged each other even through the loss of the man I loved so dearly. It has been a rough road, but I’m eternally grateful for my friends- the ones that the Lord has blessed me with currently, and the ones He has taken into His eternal kingdom for His glory. It’s a beautiful reminder of His provisions and our dependence on Him!
Oh Janelle. I’m so sorry for the things you’ve had to endure. You have such a great outlook. It took me years to get that place after tragedy. http://www.susiedavis.org/2010/10/once-upon-a-tree/
Praying for you and your God loving friends.
Thanks, Susie. I was reminded by my mentor this summer of the sufferings of Paul, and of Mary and others who endured great things for His name. Those that He calls to great things, He sanctifies greatly– and it’s not always an easy process. But I’m learning, and the Lord is wise far beyond my human eyes can see.
I am so grateful for a body that allows me to do the things I love, and a husband who reminds me to love it. My body allows me to take care of my family and home, to run and teach others how to take care of their bodies, to cook and make beautiful music and create all of the things I love. My husband is a bk amputee and yet has always had such a wonderful attitude, showing others that the things some of us look at as burdens dont have to slow us down or change our attitudes. He has continued playing hockey, rock climbing, biking, snowboarding, and being active in general and has not slowed down since his accident. Even years later with an unforseen complication that has now forced him to slow down until it can be resolved, he teaches me everyday to love life, love myself, and love my body. I am so blessed, and especially blessed with someone to help remind my family how blessed we are.
Wow … that’s beautiful.
I am thankful for my two teenagers. They are awesome, funny, loving kids and, greatly to my surprise, I am quite enjoying the teen years!

Wow, just reading all of the comments made me a little teary. It’s crazy to think about all of the things people go through privately, and how God is dealing with each of us so personally. I think your challenge has come at a perfect time for me, not necessarily including the gifts (but that would be amazing), but because God has been teaching me A LOT lately about gratitude, waiting, and about finding my identity in Him alone. What better addition to His lessons than a loving brick to the head to actually write down daily what I am thankful for (I mean in a journal. I promise not to overload your blog with my comments. haha!). However, I am thankful for my sweet love, my husband, Mark. A far better man than I could have asked for….a daily reminder that God knows what we need far more than we do. I’m thankful for my incredible family. For our three hobbits (kitties). For our new home. For the babies that God is making us wait a little longer for than we’d hoped, but who will make their appearance in His perfect timing. Yay! For a God who loves us enough to take us on individual journeys to make us more like Him, knowing that it’s not easy, but providing the provision, the strength, and the love to get us through every step. And I’m thankful for the show Bones……have to throw that in there, sorry. =]
Love your blog! Thanks so much!
I’m thankful for you and your vulnerability. :)

I am SO thankful today for my husband of 21 years, and the miracle God worked to keep us together and in a 360 degree turnabout marriage; for 3 biological children and 1 adopted, for 2 precious foster babies, and the luxury to stay home and enjoy them…God is so incredibly good, I could go on and on, but I’ll stop for all the many other posts you’ve got on here!

Today I’m thankful for all of the caring people in my life. I’ve been blessed with a loving family who showers me with love and support, no matter what. I’m thankful I met the perfect man for me, right after moving to Houston, Texas. He has been my rock for the past year. I’m thankful for the strangers I’ve met in this big city who are willing to help me find a great job and immediately start racking their brain for ways they can help. I’m thankful for good people & southern charm! And I’m thankful for PATIENCE – much needed while my boyfriend finishes out his law school finals!
I am SO thankful my son asked Jesus into his heart this week!!!!!

There’s so much! I am thankful for my heavenly Father and the way He loves me and takes care of my every need… even when I don’t know about that need YET. A couple of weeks ago, my uncle died unexpectedly. After the service, I saw a bumper sticker that simply stated “Don’t postpone joy”. This quote has become my mission…
LOVE the giveaway!!!!

I’m grateful for my childrens health! My son suffered a birth injury and was paralyzed on the right side, no movement in his right arm at all. He was put on a prayer chain at 5 months and the next day after the prayer chain started, he raised his right arm straight into the air. Greatest miracle of my life!
I followed you on Twitter and tweeted about the giveaway.

After such a hard year…divorce, illness, and death I am grateful for the opportunity to bring my family together again after years of estrangement. I am grateful that my daughter grows healthier as she works to overcome depression. I am grateful for my son, who at 13, is wise beyond his years. I am grateful to God for seeing us through this storm.
Wow- What a fabulous and generous giveaway. I am grateful that my daughter Ellie is here with us today. 2.5 years ago when she was 5, she was diagnosed with brain cancer. We went to St. Jude in Memphis and through the grace of God we were all able to make it through each day. Ellie is fine – no cancer and we are just so grateful as parents that she is living the life she fought so hard to have. Everything in our life has changed for the better because we now have a much greater understanding of what is important. I am the luckiest mom in the world!
Wow. I am grateful for Ellie’s health too. Gracious. Thanks for sharing.

I’m thankful for Texas today. I’m a transplant from Seattle and never thought I’d love another state, but I do. Even after living in Southern France, we decided to return to Texas. Today is a perfect day of crisp sunshine, leaves turning, and blue, blue sky.
I love Austin. And Seattle has to be my second favorite city in the US.

Today I am grateful for my health and that I am able to take care of my precious family.
I am grateful for my family, my home, my friends, music and laughter. I am grateful that I have a body that is growing stronger everyday and a faith that is growing even stronger. I am grateful that I am learning to put everything I need in Jesus’ hands and turning to him instead of stuff and distractions when I feel empty and lost. I am grateful that God’s mercy is new every morning, because He knows how much I need it even when I don’t. I am grateful for holy examples of the kind of woman I want to be and the knowledge that that might not be who God wants me to be. I am grateful for silly things that keep my kids happy. For the ways our life has expanded this year. I am grateful for even the things that make me crazy, because they are the things that make me grow. I am grateful for two minutes to sit and consider this on a Monday! Thanks!

What am I NOT thankful for??? I have more in my life that a lot of folks do; so here is my gratitude list:
HOME: There is no place like it. It has been the site of many major events in my life most good, some bad. When faced with losing your home- one can see how very special of a place it is. My family and I had to face that dilema a few months ago……Thank the Lord, he now has a job and we still have a HOME.
FAMILY: A constant source of security!
FOOD: I am very thankful for food (my rear-end may disagree), but I LOVE food. It is amazing how a specific smell or taste of an item can bring back a flood of memories and comfort one’s soul…… Chicken and Dumplin’s (need I say more)!
FUN: Everyone needs to have fun, or life is no fun at all! Enough said!

I have a lot to be grateful for, but right now it is my Mom. She is going through some difficult health issues and I am thankful I am able to be there for her and thankful for her perseverance.

This weekend was spent like many weekends lately… cleaning out closets. I’ve got the organizing bug, and bad! While cleaning off a shelf I hadn’t even looked at for 2 years I found a round tin with my 5 year olds hand and foot print in it. I put my pinkie finger tip in his hand print and stood in awe.
See – he was born early. Like, really really early. He was born at just 27 weeks. He was 2 lbs 4 oz and lived in the NICU for the first 76 days of his life. He is a MIRACLE. He is totally healthy today and to look at him, you would never know he had such a rough beginning.
Today I am thankful for all 4 of my boys health and happiness. I am so blessed!
I’m thankful for the wonderful family I have. I know that my husband and I need to cherish each year that we have both sets of parents around, and family that lives close. We are expecting our first child in March, and I couldn’t be more thankful than I am right now. The Lord is keeping my heart and mind at ease, knowing that He will be with us each moment of everyday we are here on this earth. I’m so thankful for that knowledge!
I’m grateful for a husband who loves me!
I am thankful for my family, for my Savior, for our wonderful home, our church home.

I am so thankful for so many things. My husband, my children, a dream being realized (selling our house in a slooooww housing market and being able to move ahead on building a more suitable home for us), exciting things happening in our church, etc. Most of all I’m thankful for My Lord who never leaves me, who is patient with my mood swings and short-term memory when it comes to His blessings. His mercies are new every morning!

I am thankful for so many things – that my wonderful has a job and willingly chooses to work, so that I can stay home with my little ones; for my beautiful, healthy children (and the one on the way); for my amazing church and friends – that it is so missions focused that our entire service yesterday was dedicated to local missions organizations (things we can do here in our own neighborhood!); for my extended family – that they know Christ and that they taught my husband and I to do so at early ages; and for the fact that my older two kiddos have already chosen to follow Christ, as well – what’s not to be thankful for?!?

I’m thankful that my husband (a carpenter) is employed this year. God has provided for our every need and that’s saying a lot. He was out of work for 8 months in ’09 so we’re very grateful for work. I’m also mostly grateful for a husband who doesn’t have the What? – Where? – When? mentality, but instead has the whatever, wherever, whenever mentality. He drives 2.5 hours each way to his current job and I am mostly thankful for him for doing whatever it takes to provide for us.
Robin – I was seriously weepy reading all these wonderful responses. But when I got to yours – well, let’s say I’m going to have to go reapply my face. What a good man. And what a sweet wife you are to affirm him so beautifully.

I thank God constantly for gifts large and small. He granted me a wonderful husband who made the rest possible. My children, friends, a lovely place to live, and a life that I could never have imagined. We’ve had some challenges but we weathered them. To remind me to stay positive, whenever I have a great experience like a trip or a play I buy a coffee mug. Then first thing in the morning I’m reminded of the most wonderful experiences of my life. It’s a great way to start the day.

My son & I were just looking at our thankful banner last night, so I have some ideas. ;) I’m thankful for a sheltered place to sleep at night, for healthy family, for physical advancements we were told my son would never make, for laughter, and for freedom…oh, and for children that say things like “you have sugar lips, Mommy” and “oh no, you will make me pee my pants if you don’t quit it” while I dance like a maniac.
And I’m a new subscriber to your blog. :) C
Priceless – what your kids say – when you dance. I think we’d be great friends. ;)

I am grateful for the fact that I am an American – and that I enjoy freedoms that so many can only imagine, and that I even sometimes take for granted.

I’m so thankful for all of God’s blessings especially my two little ones who are happy and healthy as can be! Thankful for the little things–my 4 year old daughter gave me a big, big laugh today by saying out of the blue…..Mom, I have to tell you something, I don’t know the Muffin Man. Cracked me up, oh, it feels good to laugh! Thanks!

I’m thankful for my sweet children, even when they’re naughty. And for the new one growing within and especailly for renewed health and strength this time around. And for DH who is painting trim for me so I can rest.
I am thankful for second chances. I am thankful to have a Heavenly Father who doesn’t look at what i’ve done and my past and hold me to it. He forgives and He loves me more than I could ever deserve. I am so grateful to have found Him and the rocky journey to Him was worth it a thousand times over. Every day is a new day in His love and it’s all I need.
Also liked you on Facebook and am now the proud owner of one Joy Challenge blog button. I’d do the Twitter thing but it’s been so long since I logged on that I can’t even remember my username/password. Meh.

Oh, where to start? It’s been a wild 3+ year ride for our family as well. I’m thankful that God has sustained our business through this recession and for the good, hardworking men who’ve stood by us through it all, for the beautiful new house He gave us last year, for amazing doctors, health insurance and answered prayers for my youngest son, for blessing my guys with a place to tromp in the woods together to their hearts’ content every weekend, for keeping my parents healthy and allowing them to be a part of our daily lives after 15 years of living thirteen hours apart, and for allowing my older son to follow his dream of playing college baseball. And for a Sleep Number bed! I’ll stop now.
I LOVE anything that reminds me to give thanks EVERY SINGLE DAY.
This morning I am thankful for a safe 3 hour drive that started (too early) this morning at 4:30 am. But I’m here and safe and grateful for the safe travels.

I am thankful for the house God has provided for our family and the food we eat every day. I am so thankful i have a warm bed to sleep in and not only one coat, but a few colorful options to wear when the weather is cold. I am so thankful for family that would help me out if I ever needed it. I am thankful that God uses me for His purposes all the time even when I don’t realize it. I am so thankful God is showing me about His perspective on the lost and needy.

In spite of some yucky things satan has thrown my way…..I feel so thankful to be a child of God. My family has endured a crazy few years and it could have pushed us away from Christ, but instead we love Him more.
I have THE best husband & kids (no really, I do) in the whole world! Everyday as I pull into my garage….I literally get excited because I get to be home with them. For that, I am truly thankful.

I’m grateful for second chances and God’s boundless grace!
I never thought that I would say what I’m going to say. I’m grateful that God has not removed my “limp”. He has grown me in humility and compassion. I see His glory in my suffering. Thank you, awesome Father.
Okay, y’all are kinda making me cry here. It’s a happy cry but a cry just the same. Welcome back JOY!
In the midst of about a gazillion unknowns, I’m grateful for the baby [Milo] growing in my, getting SUPER big, belly. I’m grateful that on or around January 21st I get to see baby Milo’s face and talk endlessly with my husband about which features he got from one of us or the other. I am grateful that the LORD is in control, when I can neither plan nor control much of anything in this season. :) And I’m grateful for the sweet reminders the of the Holy Spirit’s work in my life. It makes me a typically tearful pregnant person when I get glimpses of how perfectly God prompts others to reach out to us & help meet our daily needs, sometimes when they don’t even know me and my husband.
My pregnant self is also grateful for Shake’s frozen custard, literally 2 minutes from my house, because sometimes you desperately need a peanut butter milkshake or a root beer “cow”. [That's what they call vanilla custard and root beer blended together at Shake's. Ordering a "cow" does not do fantastic things for your self-esteem, but don't try to call it anything else when you place your order for one because they WILL correct you and say, "No, you're asking for a COW." Rude.]
1. I am thankful for our move, even though 1 1/2 years ago, I could not say that whole heartedly. But now, live in the country, with my husband and 3 children, at a wonderful Christian camp, where we get to minister together and where life is more simple.
2. I am grateful for the good and the difficult. Both are necessary.
3. I am thankful for God’s grace. I so desire to be more gracious to others.
4. I am thankful for life-long friends that have been through life with me and I them, and I’m thankful for new friendships that someday I might be able to say we have been through life together, too.
I am thankful for my precious family and friends. I found out a few days ago I had to go back for a second mammogram. Although I trusted God’s goodness & was never really worried, I quickly got in touch with my closest friends and of course, my precious husband was there through it all. They prayed for a good report and that is exactly what I got!!! Thank you Lord for your goodness and mercy!!!
I also just liked your FB page.
I am thankful for my family. We are undergoing some financial difficulties right now with the economy, but one thing I love in the midst of that stress is sitting around the living room with my husband and my mom (who moved in with us in February) and knowing we are all safe, healthy, and warm. Knowing where our soul lies only brings more comfort. I am looking forward to seeing the whole family in just a few weeks!!

Susie, I am grateful for everything I have. I loving husband and 3 healthy happy boys. I think I spent a lot of time thinking somethg better was comin someday. Someday is here. It was always here. We spend a lot of time waiting for more money, etc. I am joyful for what I have today and now. God’s love and the love of my family & friends is sufficient. Kim
P.S. I liked” you on facebook and subscribed to your newsletter. :)
I am grateful that my family is healthy. I take that for granted until one of us has a minor illness. My son is recovering from a stomach bug today. But overall, my family has enjoyed wonderful health and I don’t want to ever forget what a huge blessing that is. So many people I know are struggling with major illnesses right now. So, thank You, Lord, for keeping us healthy!

I am grateful that God answers prayers which allow me to share him with others. My son was hurt in football. Short story, everyone thought his ACL was torn. Before Stephen’s MRI I asked my small group and my MOMS in Touch group to please pray. Yesterday we were told his ACL is sprained, not torn. All these people around us keep saying it’s a miracle and I tell them NO It’s God answering prayer. When you have people praying God hears !! It also helps affirm to my son that God can do anything and even though you can’t see him, he is very much here with us.
Praise God !!!
I am grateful that every morning when I wake up, I am assured that God has a perfect plan for my life that day. And, oh yes… I’m grateful for my ‘oh-so’ comfy bed..
I am grateful for the fingerprints all over my glass table because my granddaughters came to visit. I am grateful for the numerous emails that need responses because that means I am blessed with many friends. I am grateful for th training that I need to write because that means I have clients. I am grateful for the clothes that need cleaning because I have a closetful of clothes. I am grateful for the doggie barks because that means I will get some exercise on a walk. I am grateful when my husband wants a hug right in the middle of a job because that means a wonderful man loves me. I am grateful for Susie because she reminds me of my many, many blessings.
… fingerprints = love that.
Susie! Hello! I live in Pennsylvania but I attend a church in Maryland. I enjoyed the weekend reatreat you hosted for us at lifepoint church in reisterstown! I’ve decided that the thing I feel most thankful for is my healthy happy family of course and to have chosen to worship god as I was not raised with church as a part of my life. I now don’t know what I’d do without it. But other than that I am grateful to be influencing my children with Jesus and church and to have learned about the legacy I will leave behind and the footprints I will leave on people I interact with everyday, that for me is what I am truly blessed with. The ability, the knowledge, and the drive to understand and trust Jesus and to allow my kids that same opportunity! I am confident that had I not dragged myself to this wonderful church that day my family would have led churchless lives. What a scary thought, to not know Jesus! I am making stides at serving the church and community and love that my family is part of that! Thank you for your words during that retreat!
God bless and hugs,
Jaime Bowen
