free stuff: coach

During the month of October, I’m doing something new on my blog. I’m joining hundreds of bloggers by participating in 31 day series. Might want to check them out …

During this series, I’ll be giving stuff away. For 31 days. I know it sounds crazy. I blame my husband. Because he wrote a book that messed with me. You can read about it here. Anyhoo, I’ve named the series:

31 days of enough: you get free stuff.

Today is day one. Gulp.

It’s funny how when you think of giving things away, suddenly they become more attractive. This purse, for instance.

I carried it a couple summers and I really love it. But alas, I’m a BIG purse gal. And this is what I’d call a medium sized purse. So when I felt the tug from God to gift away my ‘more than enough’ ~ this Coach bag was at the top of the list.

She’s pretty, yes? And during our little photo shoot, I thought to myself: She’s much too nice to give away. I’ll tuck her back on my closet shelf. I’ll learn to be a medium purse gal just for her.

And then I think I heard God laugh.

Because I will never be anything but a big purse gal. And this cute Coach purse is not meant to live in the dark confines of my closet. I’m sending this lovie out to you!

Meet super cute, medium sized Coach bag: Day 1 giveaway!

  19. Buttermilk. Wait…..pecan. ummmmm chocolate.

Oh yikes ! So many pies, so little time. I do love a great pie !

Coincidentally, or maybe not?, my grandkids call me “Pie”. I couldn’t love it more !:)

Great giveaway. I just spent the past 2 months purging every nook, cranny, shelf, closet and hidey hole. What a task! Who bought all this stuff??? Looking forward to reading your husbands book. Looks so pertinent to “where I am” in life.

    Loving your blog too :)

  20. Susie Davis says:

I love all pies-how could you not. But pecan pie is my favorite not only is it so rich and sweet and absolutely yummy, it’s always the pie I associate with the Thanksgiving and Christmas-even moreso than pumpkin.
But mostly, it reminds me of my mother, whom I lost over 20 years ago. I may be 58, with 7 grandkids and she may have been gone for a long, long time but I still miss my mommie. And pies, especially Pecan, make me think of her-she was the best baker and she really went crazy around the holidays.

  21. Misti says:

    Key lime pie
    :)

  22. Susie V. says:

My mom’s pumpkin cheesecake pie….because I love being with my family for Thanksgiving and eating this pie with loads of Cool Whip on it. Can’t wait!

  24. Bethany says:

I love strawberry rhubarb and think its a great recipe for you to feature!

  25. MarytheKay says:

Miss Alene’s apple pie was the best pie in the whole wide world! Miss Alene has been gone about 10 years now, and I’ve been trying to replicate it ever since. I’m close, but still don’t have it exactly. Oh, what I would give now to be able to stand beside Miss Alene in her kitchen and watch her make that magical pie.

  26. Megan E says:

Pumpkin Pie! I LOVE the Fall – got married and had both sons in the Fall (not all in the same year, of course!) I love anything pumpkin and topping that list is Pumpkin Pie. It is so creamy and spicy all at the same time – double the cinnamon, all spice, etc and I am one happy lady. Every bite just reminds me of fun times with family and the chill in the air. While on deployment to the Middle East in 2003, I was assigned the bridge watch during the Thanksgiving Meal. It was just the luck of the draw so I wasn’t too upset. I got off watch around 9pm and headed to the wardroom to see if there were any desserts left. There was one piece of pie and I couldn’t sit fast enough to sink my teeth into it. Well, imagine my dismay when that cool orange color of the pie ended up being SWEET POTATO! Not only was I away from home for the holidays and missed the Thanksgiving meal, but I was just duped into a piece of sweet potato pie. From that day on, I savor any piece of pumpkin pie I can get my hands on!

  27. Susie says:

My favorite pie is Pumpkin because you can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

  28. bobbie says:

I love peach cobbler…. thats kind of a pie. Oh who am I kidding. I love all dessert equally

  29. Tammy Bass says:

Oh my goodness- you have my mouth watering Susie! Growing up in Kentucky we would have have Kentucky Derby Bourbon Pie with fresh sweet real whipped cream. Here is a link with the recipe http://dyingforchocolate.blogspot.com/2009/04/kentucky-derby-bourbon-chocolate-pie.html
We could only get it around Derby time. The rest of the year we had to settle on Chess Pie also known here in Texas as Buttermilk Pie http://homesicktexan.blogspot.com/2010/10/buttermilk-pie.html. After moving back to these 2 pies are still my favorite!

  30. Kari says:

OHMY!!!! Hard to choose but I LOVE strawberry pie or a good key lime pie!!!! OOOH Baby!!!

  31. Jackie Gallop says:

I don’t eat dessert anymore, since I had gastric bypass in February, but my favorite was probably cherry pie. I spend my summers in Michigan with extended family, and my father-in-law buys fresh cherry pie baked by a woman who put herself through college (many years ago) selling cherry pies.

  32. Nan says:

Susie, thanks for visiting us this past weekend in Deep East Texas. Giddy Up.. what powerful messages. And my favorite pie.. pecan.. my mother’s only pie.. She is not a “sweets” cook.. but she can make the best pecan pie.. topped with a little vanilla ice cream.. yummy. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

  33. Erin Kirk says:

Hi Susie! Good work on the giveaways – inspiring.

I have been looking at coach bags on Ebay for a month now and I never pull the trigger….

Anyway, I have to say favorite pie…Got to be pumpkin. I love everything pumpkin pie represents. Sometimes I want to eat it in July, just for the fall fix.

    God bless you.

  34. Dina D. Rodriquez says:

Who can resist warm apple pie a la mode……………..yummy. Sounds so basic, but it is oh so delicioso~~~~ :)

  35. Dina D. Rodriquez says:

Confused. Can I answer Monday and Tuesdays questions today? :) Don’t wanna go breaking no rules. :)

    • SDavis says:

Yes! You can enter once per ‘free stuff’ blog post. So to date, you can enter for the coach bag, james avery duo and voluspa candle. Make sense?
      Enjoy!!

  36. Erin Aspegren says:

Brownie Pie… My mom made one for the birthday child and one for the rest of the family each birthday! They would all have to politely each have one piece of pie…. But the birthday person got their whole pie to themselves. We’d gorge on it, moaning and groaning in pie exstacy as our siblings looked down to their meager piece!! It was awesome. We’d barter a piece of the pie for chores, toys even money…. Good times!! They stopped making a key ingredient for the pie, dark chocolate wafer cookies, when I was in high school. We started getting ice cream cakes instead!!! Not the same! I have a birthday this month… No brownie pie…. But maybe a medium size purse will distract……….

  37. Julie S. says:

    Strawberry-Rhubarb with vanilla ice cream!

  38. Denise says:

Lemon Meringue! I love most anything lemon but lemon pie reminds me of my grandmother.

  39. Shelly says:

If this was a beauty contest, I would have to lean toward fruit pies. But if we’re talking about the pie that makes me snuggle down into my seat on the sofa and offer a sigh of “mmmm” then it has to be German Chocolate. It’s is pure comfort food contentedness (notice I’m sinking in to the sofa, probably in my favorite sweatshirt, hopefully at the end of a productive day.) Not that I need to save these moments as a reward for superstar days, sometimes it is the perfect topper though! ;)

  40. Denise Henley says:

Cute purse! I am medium size kind of gal! All time
Favorite pie is banana creme pie

  41. Stephanie C says:

Oh boy! My favorite pie is pumpkin… but my mother-in-law made a pecan pie last Sunday that about knocked my socks off. YUM yum!

  42. Cindy P says:

What an awesome purse! I love Coach bags!

And my favorite pie is definitely lemon meringue! So good!

  43. Peanut butter pie!! And confession. If I win the purse, I’m selling it to raise money for my favorite ministry in Cambodia. ;)

  44. Traci Wood says:

That would have to be Chess Pie… I’m a Cali girl that moved to Texas 8 years ago. My husband and I met in San Diego when he was in the Marines. His Aunt introduced me to Chess Pie and oh my goodness…it’s my favorite! I went through 5 different versions of recipes before I found my favorite!!!

  45. Tammy Cooper says:

Good question Susie – choosing a favorite pie is tough. I’ve determined my all-time fav is Buttermilk. I love it best because it is not too sweet, yummy for breakfast too! (Confession: I might gag if I drank a glass of buttermilk. My Daddy used to crumble cornbread & put it in a glass of buttermilk. It looked so disgusting!).

  46. Brenda says:

Lemon meringue! My mom makes the best lemon meringue pie…ever. Can’t eat a slice without comparing it to hers…and thinking about her!

  47. Jackie says:

Coconut Pie. It is probably my favorite because it is one of those desserts that my Grandma made often, so I have become a lover of all things coconut. Just a few things, must have crust, and no coconut cream.

  48. Cheryl Crain says:

Lemon Meringue Pie. The sweet and tangy tantalizes my tongue. And of course absence makes the heart grow fonder, and since Jerry doesn’t like it, I don’t make it and only get it when someone else makes one.

  49. Cynthia says:

Pie is the best dessert by far and appropriate any time of day. Cherry has always been my favorite – my dad’s, too. I don’t make cherry at home as anything chocolate is preferred by my family and I would eat the whole thing – enjoy it immensely but eat it all myself. This has been a sweet reminder of something my dad and I have always shared, just the two of us, and since my parents just arrived for a short visit, I think I will bake a cheery pie for my dad tomorrow! Thank you, Susie!!

  50. Sherri F. says:

Heavens do I love pie! Strawberry Rhubarb and Pecan from my Texas roots, but I love pumpkin as well. Okay…I love any kind of pie! I’ve always wanted to open a pie shop here in Colorado…maybe someday!

  51. Kathleen in SC says:

lemon meringue (tho this varies some with the seasons- right now, I’m lovin’ some apple pie.) =)

  52. Jennifer says:

I love lemon chess pie. My Grandmother used to make it for me when I was a little girl. Come to think of it, she also made a delicious lemon icebox pie too. Oh, and her chocolate pie and apple pie are good too. She really doesn’t make a bad pie!

  53. Dibi L. says:

Lemon Icebox Pie!!! It is NOT the same as Lemon Meringue … MUCH better!! My grandparents made it & the recipe has been handed down.

  54. kim says:

I love buttermilk pie….it is the best! A friend if mine made the pie for me and it was delicious. My friend shared her recipe and her advice and many years of wisdom with me which made the pie even better.

  55. Debbie Mc says:

    Has to be choc-a-lot….YUMMY

  56. Michele Loveday says:

My favorite pie is Marie Calenders Rocky road! It is chocolate cream pie with chocolate chips and coconut on the bottom. My husband surprised me with one many years ago and it became an instant favorite. The chocolate and coconut together is the best!

  57. Tee says:

I’m a big purse girl too, and between your husband and Jen Hatmaker, I’m a decluttering fool lately. So I guess I don’t really need that adorable bag either. But my favorite pie is my mama’s chocolate pie. Nothing else even comes close. Years ago I had something called sawdust pie that was delicious. You ever heard of it?

  58. Jennifer McDonald says:

I love pecan pie… add dark chocolate chips and it is even better! Since this pie is kind of a seasomal pie, it has fond memories attached to it. Last year, however, I was asked to bring a pumpkin pie to the family gathering. Well, I had never made that kind of pie, so I had to make it unique. Dark chocolate chips went into that one, too, and it turned out fabulous! Not often do folks ask for my recipes… in fact, I don’t think I have ever had a recipe to call my own. This one may be one that is passed onto generations for others to attach their own fond memories.

  59. Amy Mc. says:

Peanut Butter Pie!!! Because its soooo rich!!

  60. Susan Sotkovski says:

Any pie from The Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls…the meringue, it’s sky high…the cream pies are to die for…and then there’s the cherry…yum, yum.

  61. I love my mother in law’s peanut butter pie. She makes it each Thanksgiving and we always joke that she really bought it at Marie Calendar’s…haha…because once she made it in a recycled Marie Calendar’s pie tin….so yummy!

  62. Barbara Hays says:

My mother’s Lemon Meringue Pie is the best

  63. Bev Kuenast says:

My favorite pie is my grandmother Allene Breed’s chocolate pie – nobody can make it the way she could. She made it especially for my uncles, but my cousins and I got our share, too. It wasn’t a family gathering without her chocolate pie.

  64. Diana Vargas says:

My vote is for old-fashioned pecan pie!

  65. Fran Bates says:

My grandmother’s (God Bless her soul) Apple Crumb Pie. The pie is filled with Granny Smith, Apples, Brown Sugar, and lots of cinnamon but what make it amazing is the crumb topping and the love she poured into every pie! she went home to be with the Lord many years ago, but I can still taste the pie and the memories.

  66. Erin says:

Mile High Pie…my mom made it when we were growing up. It’s basically an ice cream pie. My favorite is strawberry, but it’s good with peach, raspberry, blackberry….

  67. Kristi Barrett says:

My mom’s apple pie…best.pie.ever. It reminds of my precious momma and my childhood.

  68. Laura says:

Pumpkin pie – it represents Thanksgiving and precious family times together.

  69. Jenn LeBow says:

I don’t need to win anything, but PIE DISCUSSION??? I’m in for that!

My favorite pie of all-time is Pumpkin Chiffon. It’s got beaten egg whites & whipped heavy cream in it. So yummy! It’s my grandmother’s recipe & I love thinking of her every year when I make pies for Thanksgiving & Christmas.

I’m not sure I could have married my Honey if he hadn’t loved it, too. ;)

  70. Jennifer H says:

Pecan Pie!!! Oh my goodness my Aunt Deb makes the best pecan pie. The homemade pie crust, pecans and sugar, sugar, sugar. Carb heaven.

  71. Audrey H. says:

Maybe it’s the inner school teacher in me, but mudpie is my favorite (: hehe especially after nannying little C this summer! She loves making some mudpies. But in reality the REAL mudpie-full of good chocolate, is a tummy warmer for sure.

  72. Kristen Benton says:

Definately my homemade Grain Free Pumpkin Coconut Pie in a Hazelnut Crust! YUMM!

  73. Chrissy says:

    Peach!! Yum!

  74. Nicole P says:

Chocolate Pecan – a) has to contain chocolate of course, and b) reminds me of the Fourth of July spent in Austin when I’m home from college! :)

  75. Sara says:

I’m a huge pie lover, but my all time favorite is definitely apple! There’s nothing like the warm, cinnamon-y goodness!

  76. Susan Elliott says:

APPLE with Vanilla Ice cream,Pie heated of course!!

  77. Lana Rush says:

Why hey there, Susie Davis! Look at you, being all obedient and learning to live with “Enough”. Proud of you, my friend. I myself am a “big bag gal” myself (and I, too, have enough!) but I couldn’t resist answering your pie question. My all-time favorite? Lemon Icebox Pie. Because it’s a little sweet, a little sour, and will always remind me of my sweet Mamaw, baking pies in Heaven.

  78. Linda Pupich says:

Strawberry rhubarb, warm, with vanilla ice cream. I used to work at Bakers Square, so I know my pies. I met my husband when he sat in my station one night and ordered strawberry rhubarb pie. We hit it off immediately, and still celebrate almost twenty years later over anything strawberry rhubarb :)

  79. Cathy says:

Pumpkin cheesecake pie… I think pumpkin and cream cheese are perfect together!

  80. Alex says:

You can’t go wrong with good old fashioned blueberry pie. Especially fresh out of the oven with vanilla ice cream!

  81. Misty Frank says:

My favorite pie is a Buttermilk Pie. I had never had one util I married my husband. We love to make these and share with our friends. We had a friend over once and our daughter caught him sneaking a piece at 5:30 in the morning. Was too funny. This pie makes everyone I have ever made it for smile and to me that makes it the best pie ever. I love to bake for others and see the enjoyment that get from a good piece pie.

  82. Teresa S. says:

My favorite pie is, and always will be, Pumpkin! But, you can also entice me with a good homemade apple pie!

  83. Ashley says:

Cottage Cheese Pie!!! Because I remember stories from my grandma about how they made this during the great depression because they would get huge 5 gallon buckets of cottage cheese for really cheap. My grandma said she and her brother and sister would get really tired of eating just plain cottage cheese, so her mom turned it in to pie. She made it for my mom when she was raising her, and made it for my sister and I as we grew up. I absolutely love it!!!!

  84. Lizette says:

Mocha Fudge Pie (from Cooking Light)…it’s not *that* light, but it makes me feel a little better. A tad of kahluia mixed in the espresso/chocolate pudding filling–yum!

  85. Toni Keltner says:

Duh… any pie that contains chocolate. :)

  86. Melinda Chisolm says:

  87. Callie says:

pecan pie ! warm with ice cream is even better.

  88. lemon meringue pie. because in all the years of my parents’ rocky marriage, i don’t remember much of them smiling, laughing or really enjoying one another. unless my mom made his favorite pie. then for a moment, we all seemed like a happy family. :)

  89. Krissy says:

Cookie Dough pie – it is a favorite in our family.

    • SDavis says:

      Krissy ~ tell me please.
      WHATISCOOKIEDOUGHPIE!??

      • Krissy says:

It is a pie crust filled with a modified cookie dough that stays a little gooey after it is baked. Served with vanilla ice cream it is AMAZING! My kids usually request it for their birthdays instead of cake. I’m happy to share the recipe if you’d like it!

  90. Wow, you are brave for doing this! Obedience is a beautiful thing.

I am more of a cake gal, but chocolate meringue the one my grandmother used to make…. was heavenly. I imagine she is still baking them up there too!

  91. Gwen Strybos says:

My favorite pie is Pecan Pie. My granny and mom (who have both gone to see Jesus!) baked them every Thanksgiving and Christmas and special occassions like birthdays and such. My mom made the BEST pies.
She was a juevinle diabetic and didn’t actually get to eat them, but she LOVED to bake for the rest of the family and friends as well. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills.
One funny thing……everyone was always kind of cautious when we ate the pies Granny made, she tended to leave several pieces of pecan shells in her pies!!! One never knew what you might bite into! So, Pecan Pies have a special place in my heart. I now make them sugar-free as both my husband and myself are diabetic.
In the movie, “Michael” one of the characters is a songwriter and she writes a song about pies. It’s really cute and reminded me of my mom.
    I miss her so much.
    Blessings and happiness,
    Gwen

  97. Yvonne Kay says:
