free stuff: voluspa candle

I am learning so much releasing my stuff in this 31 days of enough ..

Like yesterday, looking over your comments for the James Avery giveaway made me realize that it’s pretty commonplace to wish back for something special. And it’s also part of living life dealing with disappointing people over stuff.

And gosh, I honestly don’t know what to say about it all. The only thing that keeps floating to the surface in re-reading your comments is how all the stuff that’s most meaningful is connected to people. The people we love. Kim misses a crib because all her babies slept in the crib. Tammy misses a cast-iron skillet because it belonged to her Granny. That makes so much sense. How the things are deeply connected to people …

But I started thinking it’s probably not the thing that matters most, it’s the people. I bet Tammy would love to throw her arms around her Granny one more time. And I know Kim misses her babies … because they’re all grown up. (I’m crying now.)

We inadvertently connect things with people and they become incredibly important and even powerful, evoking strong feelings. I think that’s important to remember when we’re struggling to know how to deal with our stuff.

Today, I’m gifting a Soleil Voluspa* candle. And even though I love almost every scented candle on the planet ~ this one is important and powerful. It evokes strong feelings for me.

The first time I ever smelled this candle was several years ago in my sister’s house during my nephew’s wedding. She had Soleil Voluspa burning throughout her house. And now every time I smell the candle, I think of my nephew, Caleb and his dear wife Sabrina. I think of my husband, Will, officiating their wedding. I remember my whole big crazy family dancing on the driveway after the ceremony. And most of all, I think of my sister.

This candle is some powerful stuff. Because it says family, celebration and it says Linda. (Here we are in her kitchen at the wedding, hugging and smiling brightly but about to tussle over the last bit of champagne … see there how I’m gripping her wrist!)

  2. Cassie M. says:

It depends on the time of year. In the Fall, I enjoy scents, such as, pumpkin and apple. In the winter, apple cinnamon/cider, berry, evergreen, and holly. In the Spring and Summer, I enjoy lighter scents, such as, plumeria, linen, pineapple, and other floral or fruity scents.

  3. OH , I LOVE homie smells. Like Cinnamon apple or vanilla!!! SNIFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!

  4. La Donna says:

Even though I don’t think I have ever actually smelled this beautifully tinned candle, I believe the IT IS MY FAVORITE! *Voluspa Soleil “A bright mixture of pineapple, organic tangerine, coconut, and vanilla.” I have loved pineapples and the scent of pineapples since I was a wee tike. I have a freeze dried one in my car that a friend brought me from Hawaii many many moons ago. Tangerines are that citrus kick that somehow seem to find it’s way into my favorite scents all.of.the.time. Coconut…wow, so many folks dislike coconut and yet I’ve been the “different” one who loves to eat it in Almond Joys and German Chocolate Cake and know that it is a secret ingredient in most of the tasty cookies I love to eat. And last but most certainly not least is the Vanilla. Oh the vanilla! I do believe I’d bathe in Vanilla if I could because the smell of it brings me such peace and serenity. Yes, I do believe this will be my favorite candle of all time. Who knew? It’s been out there waiting for us to be introduced. :)

  5. Rick Fernandez says:

Rosemary Mint scented candles and melted wax! It’s clean smelling, head- and lung-clearing scent in the house. Everybody seems to be in a more pleasant and peaceful aura when this is smelled upon entry into my home and living room. I read somewhere that in the South, it is a common feature for a minty-type plant to be planted by the porch of the house. As news of guests, either anticipated or unanticipated, are about to come visit the home, the hosts would grab a broom and beat / agitate the plant to emit the mintiness in the house entry as a pleasant welcome. This is my Southerbn California take on that practice!

  6. Jennifer Haley says:

You are too sweet. Loving these posts and your giveaways. My fave… maybe Frasier Fir. But my favorite scent is half Amber and half Neutral in my Lampe Berger! Reminds me of a trip to Paris with my mom and sister when I was a senior in college. Our hotel smelled like it and I emailed them after we left to find out the scent. Now we all have lampe bergers and are fully stocked on amber and neutral. :)

  31. Megan Wise says:

I knew you’d have to give away a candle sooner or later! Haha! That was a very special night! Last year, while Christmas shopping at Urban Outfitters I found the most delicious smelling candles, the brand is Paddywax. I usually resist the urge to buy pricey candles, but I could not leave the store without taking one home. They were that good. I bought a Christmasy one. They burn forever and the scents are some of the best I’ve found. Check them out! http://www.paddywax.com You can also buy them on Amazon, I think!
