plush pumpkins … free stuff

I’ve got plush pumpkins decorating my house … would you like a few?

They’re a great way to announce the upcoming Thanksgiving season. Completely darling atop your desk or the kitchen counter. And of course, utterly charming nestled about the plates of plenty on the Thanksgiving table.

Why am I gifting them? Because I have more than enough. And I want to make you smile ~ and wonder at God and life and all things autumn.

Yesterday, while I was flat on my back in bed reading Enough, I got discouraged and started thinking all I am doing is shuffling stuff. And that made me feel sad and sorry I ever started this whole 31 days of enough. Because good gosh, who needs more and more stuff?

But then I realized that somehow ~ I might, just maybe, be encouraging someone. When the Coach bag gets to Tammy or the Voluspa candle arrives at Gwyn’s, it could arrive at just the right time. And then perhaps, they’ll smile and glance upward and utter a little thank you to God. Cause He’s really in charge of this all.

And the other thing I’m realizing, is that if I gave away one thing every day for the rest of my life ~ I’d still have enough. More than enough. There is food on my table. A roof over my head. ” … if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that’s enough.

I am an uber-super-blessed girl, so I’ve got to keep an open hand and let things go

I have to say baked sweet potatoes with lots of butter and marshmallows. Yummy makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

  2. Cassie M. says:

    My homemade sweet potatoes. Yum!

  3. Julia R. says:

A family recipe we call Delicious Potatoes. We also have a family recipe we call Yummy Dessert!

  4. Tina P says:

My 18 year old daughter’s super luscious, super sweet (like her) sweet and I mean sweet potato casserole. She has made it every year since she was 10!! Recipe is from an old church cook book…don’t you love those?!!

  5. Anna says:

I love cornbread dressing. For some reason it’s an only at Thanksgiving kind of thing.

  6. Jennybc says:

Corn bread dressing with turkey gravy. It is is sinful and yummy and I have to work out before and after but it’s only once a year and oh my is it good! : ) Precious pumpkins…

  7. Gwen Strybos says:

The favorite side dish at our house on Thanksgiving is….TADA……………….Garlic Cheese Grits!
It is DEE-LISH! It was a dish my mother made one year at Thanksgiving, she’d found the recipe in the paper or something. Anyways, it was a HUGE hit, and I have been making it for my family for years. There are NEVER any leftovers!

  8. Krissy says:

Beautiful pumpkins! Does whipped cream count as a side dish? I love lots of whipped cream with my pumpkin pie!

  9. Gosh…I am on PST time…I could be late…I am not at all sure!

I married into a family that has homemade potato salad at every holiday…so I would have to say it is the combo of a bite with sweet potatoes, dressing, potato salad and turkey…it’s a mouth full but it is the best savory/sweet kind of mouth full.

  10. Julie S. says:

My favorite side dish at Thanksgiving?! Isn’t it all the main dish? I would have to say home-made cranberries. Yumm!!! Thank you!

  11. Lori H says:

    Mashed potatoes and gravy!

  12. Tami says:

My favorite side is broccoli, cheese and rice casserole. Or fresh green beans. Or copper pennies. Yummmmmmmooooo. They’re all so good.

  13. Tami says:

Oh, homemade mashed potatoes … not the instant kind that everyone says taste like the real thing; they don’t. I make the potatoes to take to Thanksgiving dinner every year just so no one tries to sneak the instant ones by me (like they think they really could!).

  14. Bobbie says:

Thanksgiving ritual is going to the beach (Gulf Shores, Alabama) each year (where it is DESERTED…..)and we always eat a “plate lunch” at Bubba’s seafood shack, then my husband goes to the hotel to watch football and I go to Old Tyme Pottery to shop. But Christmas is at my house and my favorite side is my mother in law’s stuffing. (Delicious!)

nd by the way…. you are messing with me.

  15. Kelly Parker says:

  18. Ashley says:

It’s hard to choose only one but I guess I would choose stuffing :)

  19. Traci Wood says:

    Hands down Candied Sweet Potatoes!!!

  20. Tori Taff says:

OK, what does it say about me that after discovering and being deeply inspired by your BRILLIANT ’31 Days of Enough’ series, and feeling quite compelled to carry your idea over to my own blog… the first thing I do is enter your giveaway to acquire MORE STUFF?!

But, come on– I’ve had my eye on velvet pumpkins for two years now.

*sound of God doing the forehead/desk thing*

BTW– my favorite Thanksgiving side dish is my mom’s recipe-less stuffing.
