instagram * printstagram * gratitude garland

Last weekend … weird.

Nothing monumental going on but wowser, a full out funky strangeness settled in our house. The kind that makes you tired and confused at the same time. And if you sit in it too long, you get cantankerous and weird with it. (Please tell me I’m not the only one who experiences this … ?)

It was Saturday night and I had my fill, so I did something I never do. And when I say never, I mean never. I went to Hobby Lobby, wandered the aisles listening to Christian elevator music, and then I bought some craft stuff. Y’all, I am not crafty. Crafting makes me scared. And crafting makes me sweat.

But then I came home with all kinds of craft confidence and I sat on the floor like a little kid and proceeded to make gratitude garland from my instagram prints I had sitting on my kitchen table.

Why? I do not know. (Is there some psychology to impulsive crafting? Please tell me.) But I do know this … I needed to sit on the floor and spread my blessings out in front of me where I could see them. And then I needed to quietly thank God again for every one.

Those instagrams … are gorgeous blessings packed in a picture. And they are a tiny reflection of the little moments in a day that sing with the goodness of God. And these are only the ones I manage to capture in a click with my iPhone …

* my husband preaching in colorado * kinetic (the horse we ride) * my parents *  acf: our sweet church * my kids leading worship * gooey pumpkin cupcakes * flowers from my niece’s wedding * a mug of morning coffee * my favorite roses * our family cabin in the mountains * davis dance rage

Looking over them knocked the weird out of my weekend. It gave me a boldness over the strangeness settling in my soul.

While stringing together those instagrams, I agreed with King David: Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

I have found gratitude is good medicine. And crafting isn’t so bad when it turns your heart around. ;)

So what are you grateful for today? And since you are likely 400% more crafty than me, would you share one of your best crafty gratitude projects with me? I think I might try another …

PS. Printstagrams are just printed instagrams. I ordered a bunch of mini’s which are 4×4 …

PPS. My project included: printstagrams, hole punch, ribbon, pressed leaves. Super beginner.

I have an article at home that I have kept for months. It goes into the brain compartments and which ones are used when we craft and how crafting benefits us by “turning off the go juice” and lets us settle down. Really good medicine.

      Oh, gracious, yes.
It would make terrific garland on the tree ~ the 4×4’s are the perfect size!
We stopped hanging ornaments bc our crazy cat climbs our Christmas tree but these would work!
      You’re a genius, Addie … :)
